Gifts for teachers

I have so many ideas that I'm wanting to put together for my daughter's 4K teacher.

However, I do not have all the information necessary to make some of the gifts

nor do I have all the products needed to make said gifts...yet.

So, I started with something that I've been wanting to do for a long time.

Personalized Push Pins

I've had this shrink film for over 8 months if not longer...

it's about time I start using it.

Naomi's teacher will be getting a personalized bag like this one

and I'll be filling it with things similar to this.

As part of the items that will go in the bag I started with making

little teacherish (did I just make up a new word?) push pins.

(Although I don't have the pins yet so this isn't completely done either).

Well, I will share the completed project once it is completed

but for now let me share the personalized push pins with you.

What you need:

Shrink Film (can be found at JoAnn's, Hobby Lobby and probably Michaels)

Sharpie markers

Computer and printer (optional)

Push pins

Super glue

The great thing about this project is that you don't have to be "crafty" to make it look like you are.

This is a simple project that ANYONE can do!

A quick tutorial:

Open Microsoft Word and insert some teacherish clip art into a new document.

You might need to make some of them bigger but I didn't really need to make many of them bigger.
It just depends on what you want to make -jewelry, push pins, magnets- as they will shrink A LOT!

Print out your images, this is what you will trace over to get your push pins.
Put your shrink film on top of your print out and trace the images with your sharpies.

Once you have your image traced and colored in then cut it out.
You can punch a hole in it as well if you'd like it to be for a necklace or anything else that requires a place to hang it from (bookmark, etc).

Put the shrink film on parchment paper or wax paper on top of a cookie sheet and bake at 350 for about 2 minutes (read the directions on your package). The shrink film will curl up and then flatten out. Don't take it out of the oven till it's flat again. It will be plieable for a little bit if you want to make it wavy or curved but be warned it's VERY hot. It doesn't take long to cool though so if you want to make a different shape with it you need to do it quickly.

 I think they're super cute!

I think the glue bottle and the scissors are my favorites!

The last step for me will be to get some flat top pins and super glue them to the shrinky dinks. I don't think hot glue will work at all for these, it would just peel right off.

I also plan to make this to stick in her bag.

Maybe some day I'll come up with an original idea...but why reinvent the wheel right?!!

The kids loved giving them and the teachers really loved getting to know all the kids favorite things!

Student Information Interview - For Teachers

I've seen a lot of Kid Interviews around and I thought I would make one up for the kids. I wanted them to give them to their teachers on the first day of school. 

Well the first day of school came and went, but there's no reason why we can't send them on the "Second day of School" Right?!? 

So we made them anyway.

I found the image and outline on another interview. I decided to use that but removed all the text and made my own. This is what we came up with.

Once printed, I had the kids fill them out and color the picture below. They even colored the Student Information up above.  They had a lot of fun with it and so did I. It's so fun reading about your kids and what they think! I am going to start doing this every year.

After everything was done, we rolled them up and tied them with a piece of yarn. Cute! Cute!

First Day of School Teacher Gifts

My kids go back to school tomorrow. We don't usually do first day of school gifts, but we did this year!

I took the kids to the store and let them pick out some candy.  They also picked out a glass jar, some ribbon and hair bands.

We were going to make | Teacher Treats |

When we got home, I grabbed some sharpies and l let the kids write "Teacher Treats" on the jar.  They also added a heart apple.

They also added "Love" and their names along with the date on the bottom of the jar.

We used a hair band and pre-curled ribbon to the jar. And of course the candy! That's it. They were quick and easy and I know the teachers are going to love them!

These were fun to make! My kids are really excited to hand them over tomorrow morning!

The Teacher Wife | Blog Review

I have a great blog for you to visit. The Teacher Wife is a great resource for parents and teachers. Lindsey over at "the teacher wife" is a newlywed and a new teacher. She completed her first year with a great group of first graders and is hoping to move into the second grade right along with them. How fun, to have the same group of kids two years in a row! I myself will have a first grader, come August, so I am excited that Lindsay contacted me for a review. I look forward to reading through all her current and future posts. Lindsey's hope is that we can generate some support amongst teachers and parents. I think that is a great idea! Many of our teacher find their projects and additional fun lessons online. It would be great to connect them all on blogs. Don't you?!? I also think it could be a way for parents to connect with teachers, whether they homeschool or just want more activities to do with their kids after school. I especially like that I can find things for them to do during summer months too!

Crayon Art ~ Teacher's Gifts

 Remember Jamie's Crayon Letter Shadowbox Tutorial? Wasn't it amazing? I think so! Well, it inspired me to try something new. I wanted the kids to be able to use the crayons but also leave a personal touch too since these were going to be for their teachers. 

This is what we came up with.

 I think they made the perfect Teacher Gifts this year!

The kids all wanted a different border. So be sure to look at the Border Design too!

This last one is the one they made for their Principal.

The kids last day is today! They are so excited to take them in.
